Public Beaches
If you prefer a quieter, more authentic spot,our public beaches are the perfect choice.
- Casal Velino Seafront Just 3 minutes from the Borgo, a long stretch of sandy beach, usually crowded in summer.
- Sotto la Torre On the opposite side of the seafront near the port, with a charming beach hut that also rents sunbeds and serves food.
- Dominella Access At the end of Via Piani, a staircase leads to a pebble beach ideal for snorkeling, also reachable on foot from the Borgo.
- Fossa dell'Erice Access On the road to Pioppi, similar to Dominella but wilder and more difficult to access. No sand — water shoes recommended.
- Piani Access Our favorite spot, just below “la casa del notaro.” Very popular lately. No sand — water shoes recommended.
- Ascea Cliff 10 minutes from the Borgo, head toward Ascea. A beautiful sandy beach at the end of the village with parking and a spectacular restaurant that feels like a scene from a 70s movie.
- Pioppi Seafront 5 minutes from the Borgo, with both sandy and pebbly areas. It also offers public showers.
- Canoeing, windsurfing, and SUP - In Pioppi, 5 minutes from the Borgo. Cilentowave offers courses and excursions
- Go-Karting - At Karting Club Alento (10 minutes from the Borgo, heading toward Omignano Scalo)
- Play areas for children - Kids are welcome! The nearest playgrounds are in Casal Velino Marina (in front of the port) and in Pioppi, along the seafront.

Trekking

- The Borgo is located right along a trekking path. Beautiful walks lead toward Pioppi, Casal Velino Paese, and continue to Celso and then Acciaroli.
- Another lovely walk is the sunset hike to the Velia archaeological site.

The historic center of Casal Velino, reachable on foot from the Borgo with a 3.5 km walk or just a few minutes by car, is the perfect place to enjoy a moment of peace and admire stunning sunset views.
San Matteo
Marina di Casal Velino
What to see in Marina di Casal Velino (5 minutes by car) Don’t miss the chapel of San Matteo ad Duoflumina and the ruins of medieval tombs recently uncovered. This is where the relics of the Apostle Matthew were kept until the year 954, before being transferred to Salerno’s Cathedral, where they can be admired today.
Velia Archaeological Park
Where philosophy meets history
Clearly visible from the Borgo (just 5 minutes by car), the ruins are open every day except Tuesday. Once an important Greek colony, Velia was home to great philosophers like Parmenides and Zeno. What remains today includes the Port Area, Porta Marina, Porta Rosa (the largest monument of Magna Graecia), Hellenistic and Roman baths, the Agora, the Acropolis, the Southern and Archaic Quarters.
Entry: €3 (free for under 18s)
Open daily from 9 AM until one hour before sunset. CLOSED ON TUESDAYS.
Pioppi
home of the Mediterranean Diet
Pioppi, one of the most charming villages in Cilento, can be reached via an expert-level trekking path or a 4 km drive from the Borgo. Enjoy a beautiful seaside promenade and visit the Mediterranean Diet Museum, where the famous lifestyle was studied and defined.
Acciaroli
Charm and nightlife
Just 15 minutes from the Borgo, Acciaroli has become the queen of Cilento in recent years. Known for its vibrant nightlife, beachside aperitifs, and elegant restaurants and bars, it's the perfect place for a relaxing evening stroll.
Worth seeing (over 20 minutes by car)
- The Temples of Paestum – 40 minutes from the Borgo, they make a great stop on your way in or out. The nighttime visits are truly spectacular — a must-see at least once in a lifetime.
- The Ghost Town of Roscigno – 90 minutes from the Borgo, this mysterious and fascinating place is absolutely worth the trip.
- Castellabate – 50 minutes from the Borgo, made famous by the film "Welcome to the South". Definitely not to be missed!
- Sanctuary of Monte Gelbisono – 25 minutes from the Borgo, a special place full of spirituality. In no time, you can go from the sea to the mountains — and don’t miss the local restaurants for a plate of mushroom fettuccine!
- The Calore Gorges – 90 minutes from the Borgo, a must for nature lovers. A perfect spot to enjoy an unspoiled river, even with friends or pets by your side.
